Ten Weekly Favorites (5)

It’s been forever since I’ve done one of these! Mainly because I’ve been so busy with my job that I haven’t gotten time to listen to new music. But I have a few to share today. In fact I had so many I could probably do 2 of these posts, but I’m saving the others for another post in the close future.

1. The Fallen

Artist: Franz Ferdinand

Album: You Could Have It So Much Better

Why: I bought this album recently and I am IN LOVE with Franz Ferdinand. I love every track but The Fallen is up there as one of the best.

2. Cough Syrup

Artist: Young The Giant

Album: Young The Giant

Why: I think Young The Giant is soundtracking my life right now. This track and “My Body” are how I feel all the time. I’m not really sure what that means, but its deeply personal. Thank you YTG.

3. Eleanor Put Your Boots On

Artist: Franz Ferdinand

Album: You Could Have It So Much Better

Why: That one slow track on the album is always one of the best, and this track is no exception. Beautiful.

4. Sing For Absolution

Artist: Muse

Album: Absolution

Why: I finally looked up what absolution meant when I realized it probably didn’t mean “absolute resolution” like I’d always assumed without really thinking about it. Ha. Oh yeah, good song too.

5. Heart In A Cage

Artist: The Strokes

Album: First Impression Of Earth

Why: Bought this album finally, and this song is my second favorite, after my all time favorite, You Only Live Once.

6. Violet Hill

Artist: Coldplay

Album: Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends

Why: “I took my love down to Violet Hill, there we sat in snow. All that time she was silent still. So if you love me, won’t you let me know?” This line.

7. Common People

Artist: Pulp

Album: Different Class

Why: I’m going to do a post and explain my Britpop obsession soon, but this song is a taste of what I’ve been getting into recently. Pulp is one of my new favorites and this song is crazy good.

8. The Resistance

Artist: Muse

Album: The Resistance

Why: I didn’t like this song for the longest time, but now I can’t get enough of it. That chorus is so explosive! I can’t wait for Sept 19th!

9. Ya Hey

Artist: Vampire Weekend

Album: Modern Vampires Of The City

Why: Vampire Weekend, why was I never into you before Modern Vampires of the City? All the beauty I missed out on. The verse in this song gets me in the gut every time.

10. Pickin’ Up The Pieces

Artist: Fitz and The Tantrums

Album: Pickin’ Up The Pieces

Why: I’ve said this before, but I’m putting them on here again. I love Fitz and the Tantrums, they’re so different from usual “indie rock”, and I highly recommend their first album (I haven’t listened to the new one yet). I’ve recently been digging this tune.
